A Brief History…
Scarborough Dial A Ride started in 1983 with just one minibus. Since then we have extensively developed our services in the area with a modern fleet of fully accessible, specialised vehicles.
One thing that has not changed over the past 40+ years however, is the caring, friendly service that we offer.
Our services and who we help
We provide fully accessible, affordable, door to door transport for anyone over the age of 60 or those of any age with some form of disability, living within our 10 mile service area.
Our spacious minibuses are fitted with lifts or ramps as well as low steps and grab rails for ease of boarding. For longer journeys, our MPV cars are wheelchair accessible and, together with our two fully-electric cars, provide safe and comfortable transport.
Dial A Ride is not part of the Health Authority or Social Services. Although we receive some funding through some small grants, the rest of the income needed to keep the service going comes from the reasonable fares we charge and extensive fundraising.
Our fantastic team
We rely on our small team of paid staff and our volunteer drivers and passenger escorts to keep Dial A Ride ‘on the road’. Our friendly and helpful team will give you the appropriate support and assistance during your journey.
